Lessing's 18th Century masterpiece is a passionate plea for religious tolerance.
The play expresses in a light hearted way themes of ethics and religious philosophy
that are relevant in today's world. It takes place in Jerusalem in the 12th
Century centered around Saladin (a Muslim Templar Crusader) and Nathan (a Jewish
merchant and sage).
