Israel Independence Day is celebrated annually, according to the Hebrew calendar, on 5 Iyar, the anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel. In 2005, it will be celebrated on the evening of Tuesday May 2.

The celebrations commence with a festival in the foyer at
the arena at 6pm . The festival includes exhibitions, interactive activities
and music in an atmosphere of pure blue and white fun. There will
be a range of activities run by communal organisations including musical, dance
and comedy performances.
At 7.30pm , the celebrations move into the arena, with the major
concert.

Special Guests at the Wedding of the Year
The wedding of the year between Roni of Melbourne and Shai of Israel will form the basis of the Yom Haatzmaut show, taking place at the Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday 2 May 2006.
The wedding will include some very special guests, who will make it a most memorable and enjoyable simcha for all the audience.
Rachel Kramer circus performer, actress and comedian, Rachel brings a totally new element to the celebrations.
Jeremie Bracka fresh from a sellout tour of his show, Lox Shmocks and Two Smoking Salmons Jeremie joins the 2006 cast in a role showcasing his versatile characterisations and rapier wit.
Eddie Tamir brings to the show his hysterical interpretations of aspects of Israeli society.
Lena Fiszman and Ruth Yaffe extraordinary women, extraordinary talent they will delight and entertain with their unique insights on the evenings proceedings.
Tomi Kalinski- well known as a musician, teacher and overall wonderful character, Tomis mother of the groom will show her comedic genius as well.
Robert Weil whats a wedding without a Rabbi. Rabbi Mordy Katz returns to the show.
Sam Krum as father of the bride surprises are in store from this versatile actor and singer.
The IDF TROUPE being flown in especially from Israel to join in this celebration, they will bring to the stage an authentic Israeli spirit, and will have everyone on their feet, singing and dancing.

And with an 18 piece orchestra, directed by Musical Director Adam Starr
